La mostra “PASOLINI. Per Pura Passione” di David Parenti é stata aperta al pubblico dal 26 marzo al 25 aprile 2022 e inaugurata sabato 26 marzo alle ore 18.00 alla Galleria “Mercato Centro Culturale”.
David Parenti ha esordito nel campo artistico circa 20 anni fa proprio lavorando sulla figura di Pasolini, e ha proseguito facendo del mondo del cinema il centro della sua ispirazione; ha realizzato cicli di opere dedicate a Fellini, Marlon Brando e James Dean, che ha esposto in tutto il mondo, dalla Galleria Bunkamura di Tokyo, fino al Le Pavè d’Orsay di Parigi, passando per la Galleria Biblioteca Angelica di Roma.
Foglio, cartone e legno sono i materiali preferiti dell’artista, su cui lavora con matita e tecniche miste. Parenti trascende dal materiale fotografico di partenza con visioni di minuziosità fiamminga e prospettiva barocca, scavando i volti e rimarcandone i dettagli per ottenere un risultato in cui plasticità, luce e oscurità fanno affiorare una forma di realtà dal forte impatto psicologico.
Dal lavoro dell’artista, emergono ritratti di Pasolini che sono rivelatori di intimi tormenti e dolcezza caratteriale, frammenti della vita del cineasta accanto a coloro che lavorarono con lui: “Laurence Olivier di borgata” Franco Citti, l’angelico e conturbante Terence Stamp di Teorema, Totò e Ninetto, Laura Betti, l’Anna Magnani di Mamma Roma, Silvana Mangano e Maria Callas; ambienti autobiografici e filmici vissuti con disperata ma anche amorosa vitalità: dalla luce calcinata e “bachiana” delle borgate alla quiete solare di Grado all’incanto architettonico di Sana’a riferimenti agli amati Maestri: da Masaccio a Piero della Francesca, da Caravaggio ai Manieristi.
La mostra è a cura dell’architetto Alberto Squarcia dello Studio Archeo900 di Ferrara e durante l’inaugurazione sarà presente l’artista.
“Questa è una delle iniziative culturali promosse quest’anno ad Argenta per omaggiare la figura di Pier Paolo Pasolini a 100 anni dalla sua nascita, un invito al confronto su un personaggio poliedrico e controcorrente.
Nelle opere dell’artista David Parenti viene data voce e visibilità alle emozioni. Non solo riconosceremo in esse il Pasolini scrittore, giornalista, regista… ma scopriremo i suoi tratti caratteriali più profondi.”

The exhibition “PASOLINI. For Pure Passion” by David Parenti opened to the public from March 26 to April 25, 2022, and was inaugurated on Saturday, March 26, at 6:00 pm at the “Mercato Centro Culturale” Gallery.
David Parenti made his artistic debut about 20 years ago, working on the figure of Pasolini, and he continued to make the world of cinema the centerpiece of his inspiration. He created cycles of works dedicated to Fellini, Marlon Brando, and James Dean, which he exhibited around the world, from the Bunkamura Gallery in Tokyo to Le Pavè d’Orsay in Paris, through the Biblioteca Angelica Gallery in Rome. Paper, cardboard, and wood are the artist’s preferred materials, on which he works with pencil and mixed techniques. Parenti transcends from the starting photographic material with visions of Flemish meticulousness and baroque perspective, digging into the faces and emphasizing details to achieve a result in which plasticity, light, and darkness bring forth a form of reality with a strong psychological impact. From the artist’s work, portraits of Pasolini emerge, revealing intimate torments and character sweetness, fragments of the filmmaker’s life alongside those who worked with him: “Laurence Olivier of the suburbs” Franco Citti, the angelic and disturbing Terence Stamp of “Teorema,” Totò and Ninetto, Laura Betti, the Anna Magnani of “Mamma Roma,” Silvana Mangano, and Maria Callas; autobiographical and cinematic environments lived with desperate but also loving vitality: from the sun-baked and “Bachian” light of the suburbs to the sunny tranquility of Grado and the architectural enchantment of Sana’a. References to beloved Masters: from Masaccio to Piero della Francesca, from Caravaggio to the Mannerists. The exhibition is curated by the architect Alberto Squarcia of Studio Archeo900 in Ferrara, and the artist will be present during the inauguration. “This is one of the cultural initiatives promoted this year in Argenta to pay tribute to the figure of Pier Paolo Pasolini on the 100th anniversary of his birth, an invitation to a discussion about a multifaceted and countercurrent character. In the works of the artist David Parenti, emotions are given a voice and visibility.
